History: - Demand for a German School began in the U.S. as early as the late 19th century
- Association of interested German expatriates founded the German Forum (1978) with the goal to establish a German school
- German Educational Association founded (1979)
- Dedication ceremony led by Vice-Chancellor and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hans Dietrich Genscher (Sept. 23, 1980)
Development: - Purchased building in White Plains (1982)
- First graduation High School class (May 15, 1989)
- Construction of the school gym (1997-2001)
- Introduction of 12-year curriculum (instead of 13-year curriculum)
- New program for five year olds (2002)
- Certificate of Excellence awarded by the German authorities (Aug. 3, 2009)
Statistics: - 64 Students in grades 1-5 in 1980
- 320 students in grades ES1 – 12 by our 25th anniversary (2005)
- current enrollment 365 students (January 2010)
