College Advising

German School New York graduates have opportunities to attend universities in many different countries, and they go on to be very successful at their respective institutions. In order to help our students find their individual paths and gain acceptance to their favorite schools, our excellent college advisors guide them through the selection and application process. Guido Henn counsels students who wish to attend universities in German-speaking countries, and Tahira Copland counsels those who are considering colleges and universities in the U.S, Canada, and Great Britain. All students are welcome to seek the help of both advisors.

We have also set up an application timeline for American colleges for students from 9th to 12th grade.

In addition to the services provided by our advisors, our school offers students various other chances to explore possible universities and career paths:

·   Parents and other professionals speak to classes about their careers

·   College representatives give presentations and Q&A sessions at the school

·   Interview training

·   Students complete a minimum one -week internship in 11th grade to gain firsthand work experience

For more information regarding colleges, please  see Tahira Copland's page under Teachers Online.
